Contest Rules:

Tiny tots, Jingle & Grass

 

  • Drugs and alcohol free event

  • Tiny Tots contest is open is to 6 and under

  • Jingle and Grass contests are open to dancers in High School and older. The purpose of the powwow is to promote Higher Education.

  • Each dancer must dance to two songs back to back in their respective category. 1st song straight song, and 2nd song dancer’s choice. Tiny tots may submit one song.

  • Contest videos must be submitted by midnight on April 18, 2021.

  • Contest video must be submitted to the San Diego Intercollegiate Powwow Facebook page along with the hashtag #intercollegiatepw

  • Contest submission must begin with contestant information including name, tribal affiliation, dance style, and any other information you would like to share.

  • Contests will be judged by headstaff and NASA students from SDSU and UCSD. Judges' decisions are final. 

  • Contestant must complete the official Dancer Registration form.

  • The winners' videos will be shown live on May 1, 2021 during the powwow.

  • Three places will be awarded for the Jingle and Grass dance contests:

    • 1st place - $500

    • 2nd place - $300

    • 3rd place - $200

  • Three places will be awarded for the Tiny Tots dance contest.

    • 1st place - $100

    • 2nd place - $75

    • 3rd place - $50

  • Winners will need to complete UCSD Independent Contractor paperwork to receive prize money

I will be having a Virtual Women's Old Style Fancy Shawl Special for ages 35+ in honor of my late sister in law, Carol Begay.

1. Dancer must choose 1 straight song of their choice. 
2. Complete dancer registration form by clicking
"Head Woman Special Apply Here" box & please select "Head Woman Special"
3. Upload a recorded video on to the "San Diego Intercollegiate Powwow" Facebook Page with the hashtag #intercollegiatepw
4. Dancer should hold up a sign that says, "SD Intercollegiate Powwow HW Special" in the beginning of their video.
5. All submissions must be in by April 18th, 2021 at midnight.
Funds will be paid via PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo.
